July 2007 Microsoft Security Patch Advance Notification

Microsoft have provided advanced notification about the Security Patch Release scheduled for next Tuesday. Six patches are due for release, with three affecting Windows, two affecting Office, and one affecting the .NET framework.

Although the .NET vulnerability was originality reported as Important, three of the patches are for Critical vulnerabilities (including one Office Patch, one Windows patch, and the .NET patch), two are Important, and one is rated Moderate.

As in previous months, Microsoft will be updating the MSRT (Malicious Software Removal Tool) at the same time. Four non-security updates will also be released via Microsoft Update, and one via Windows Update.

Again, Windows Vista is affected by at least one Critical update, related to the .NET patch and the Critical Windows update that affects all supported Windows versions. S?nnet Beskerming will be releasing patch briefing packs following Microsoft's patch release.
